Bush administration admits global warming exists. (Whoa! Am I hallucinating?)

The Bush administration says Artic polar bears may need protection under the Endangered Species Act due to global warming.

Just let that sink in for a moment...

Anyway, the polar bears depend on Arctic ice for their survival and guess what -- it’s melting.

The bears have a very limited diet consisting mainly of ringed seal which they capture by digging holes in ice. The problem is if there is no sea ice, they can't get out on the water where the seals are swimming around.

The bears can swim and can usually reach chunks of floating of ice, but they can only swim up to 100 miles. Unfortunately the distance between floating Arctic ice and land is increasing and some bears drown trying to reach it.
